Tornado

Last night we had our first real experience being in the midwest. We knew some storms were passing through but about 9:30ish we heard the tornado siren go off. We woke up the kids and took them to the basement for about an hour. At the beginning Alyssa was the only one smiling and thinking it was a party, we told you she is always happy even when you wake her up after sleeping for just 2 hours. Bryson and Kaitlyn were pretty groggy for a bit but once they woke up they thought it was fun to have a party in the basement "in the middle of the night". They each picked out a "treat" from the basement food closet.

Kaitlyn picked cranberries.

Bryson picked Chex cereal.

We are so grateful to have a finished basement so that we were able to enjoy this late night experience and be comfortable. Luckily everything was fine. It sounds like this happens every once in a while so I guess I better keep the basement food closet stocked with more yummy "treats."

AAHH!!! I'm so glad you have a basement, we don't want our Mumfords blown away. That is really an experience.

Cool, Dacia! Kent always wanted to see a tornado, but we never got the opportunity. We heard plenty of sirens over the years, though. We learned that where we were, the sirens were coordinated by county, though, so even if the tornado watches and warnings were pretty far away, generally considering, the whole county would get the sirens. We never even saw any rotating clouds. It's such an eerie feeling, though. And thanks for the birthday wishes!!! We need to catch up!

Lucky you to have a basement! When we were in Memphis we had many a tornado warning and a few "bounced" over our neighborhood. Our gathering place was the bathtub - pretty crowded, not comfortable, and very scary!

glad you guys are safe! We always had to sit in the bathtub! (7 of us) Can you imagine having to keep your little kids in the bathtub for an hour? There is no way mine would do it! Glad you have a basement and a food closet down there is a great idea!
